Statutory Guidance on Co-operation Arrangements

DCSF has published its final Statutory Guidance on co-operation arrangements, including the Children’s Trust Board and Children & Young People’s Plan following a consultation document being made available in November 2009. The full guidance is available at the DCSF website. A summary of the document has been produced by Suffolk Children's Trust.

Consultation on New Statutory Children's Trust Guidance and New Children and Young People's Plan Regulations

This new document brings together guidance on Children's Trusts and Children and Young People's Plans into one piece of statutory guidance. It also includes further advice arising from the recent changes to the Children Act 2004 made by the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning (ASCL) Act 2009. The document also includes the draft new Children and Young People's Plan regulations.
The guidance replaces "Children's Trusts: statutory guidance on interagency cooperation to improve the well-being of children, young peiple and their families" (2008) and "Children and Young People Plan Guidance" (2009). The consultation runs from 13 November 2009 to 29 January 2010.

"Creating the Greenest Communities" Launch

The Suffolk Climate Change Partnership is launching ‘Creating the Greenest Communities’ – a support network for new or established ‘green’ communities.
Hosted by a different community every month, the Network will visit leading projects across the county giving groups the opportunity to talk about their experiences and share what they have learned. Advisors will be on hand to discuss issues such as funding or communications, and future events will host themed training and workshops on a range of 'green' topics.
The Network is being launched at Great Barton Village Hall on Saturday 6th February. This first event will run as a day of open workshops, providing a forum for existing and new groups to meet together to provide inspiration and learning from their own communities.

Safer Suffolk Delivery Partnership prepares to launch Home Shield Plus Scheme

Following on from the successful Home Shield project, which receives over 100 referrals per month requesting assistance for vulnerable people in Suffolk from front line officers who will visit clients within their own homes, the Safer Suffolk DP are about to launch Home Shield Plus which will provide a pro-active service. Home Shield plus will give us the ability to deliver the service, through the appointment of 8 visiting officers and a coordinator, managed by Suffolk Fire & Rescue Community Safety Team.

Infrastructure Network Suffolk Launch new website for VCS representatives

Infrastructure Network Suffolk (INS) is made up of bodies whose primary purpose is to provide the core functions associated with the voluntary and Community sector (VCS) infrastructure support, including development, support, liaison, representation and strategic partnership work.
Their new website www.representationinsuffolk.co.uk explains the structure of representation in the county and how the VCS is an integral part of the strategic decision making process in Suffolk.

Launch of new guide to help businesses during the recession
On behalf of the economic prosperity Delivery Partnership a new online resource was launched at the Chamber of Commerce Bank of England lunch on 20th August.
Called Building Business Success, this new resource points businesses of Suffolk in the right directions for help, it includes everything from grants and access to finance to training to procurement opportunities.

Great East Swim Suffolk Update

At Alton Water on 26th September 2009 up to 2000 swimmers will be taking part in this mass participation 1 mile swimming event. The event will start at 9am with the first wave of swimmers taking the plunge and followed every 30 minutes with 200 swimmers in subsequent waves.
Great East Swim Suffolk is a partnership event with Suffolk County Council, Anglian Water, Culture and Sport Delivery Partnership, Healthy Ambitions Suffolk, Choose Suffolk Tourism Partnership, British Swimming and Great Swim Partnership and contributes to Suffolk’s Community Strategy.
