Delivery Partnerships

In June 2008 the SSP Board identified a number of partnerships which would have responsibility for delivery of Suffolk's Community Strategy and LAA2. Nine Delivery Partnerships were identified based on Suffolk's Community Strategy themes and cross cutting principles.

Many of the nine partnerships already existed in some form, and work was undertaken in the latter half of 2008 to formalise the new governance arrangements for the partnerships including reviewing membership and establishing new terms of reference.

Many of the Delivery Partnerships have a broader role than delivering the Community Strategy and LAA, and some, for example, the Children's Trust and Safer Suffolk, are statutory requirements. In establishing the nine Delivery Partnerships, the SSP Board were not prescriptive about size, structures or individual membership of the partnerships. This was to ensure that the partnerships had the freedom to develop structures that were suitable for the roles they have to fulfil.

The primary role for each Delivery Partnership is to establish an action plan that sets out how the partnership will deliver the Community Strategy outcomes and LAA2 targets. These action plans are not just about listing the activity that is already taking place, but to add value to delivery. They should focus on gaps in current activity and identify opportunities to add value through effective partnership working.
