Creating the Greenest County
We’re proud of Suffolk and our tradition of doing things differently. Now we really want to take the lead in "Creating the Greenest County". This is ambitious, but we should be aiming high. We want to live and work in ways that use less energy, but allow us to do more exciting things.
Suffolk’s environment is one of the finest in Britain, but it is threatened by climate change - rising sea levels, a lack of water, and extremes of weather all mean that Suffolk’s unique character will change. We want to build on the fantastic work that many people are already doing for their environment.
Transforming Suffolk - Suffolk’s Community Strategy 2008-2028 has recognised Creating the Greenest County as one of four priorities, providing targets around climate change and natural/historic environment. The challenge for the twenty year vision of the Community Strategy is to deliver these targets and an overall aspiration that Suffolk should become the county with the greatest reduction in carbon emissions. By 2025, Suffolk aims to achieve a 60% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.
Creating the Greenest County is all about actions, not words. It needs you all to get involved - as individuals, families, communities, schools and businesses. We can help you make a difference.
